Lecture at Emily Carr

It has been an exciting moment to give a lecture in the prestigious Hall 301 at Emily Carr Institute for art, design, and media in Vancouver. Something like 170 very attentive students litteraly packed the room and warmly followed the presentation.
They also had the opportunity to see a realtime treatment of the images (gigantic pixels and so on...) thanks to the fact we forgot to switch the projector on PAL mode! It has been just great.

Great Northern Way Campus Vancouver

During January 2008 RPD will be Visiting Artist and Guest Professor at the Great Northern Way Campus, Vancouver BC. During the residency, Paci Dalò will be involved in various activities with students from different Vancouver universities and he will further develop several projects based on the exploration of the city of Vancouver itself.
Among the others the shooting of a film and an installation created for Centre A, Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art. http://www.centrea.org

Another task will be related to the establishment of collaborations between Vancouver's Creative City people and the Rimini's activities in this field.

Nomi Club Video Design

Roberto Paci Dalò is now responsible for the video design of the Nomi Club in Rimini. Paci Dalò's videos are permanently screened within the club. The nomi Club is part of Duomo Hotel: the innovative site designed by Ron Arad.

A selection of brilliant character-pieces by Marin Marais. Central to this CD are works with programmatical and personal associations like "Tombeau pour Monsieur de Lully" or "Le Tourbillon", Labyrinth and Cloches et Carrillon.
We're working with Hille on a new music-theatre work based on this fabolous music.

"...Gli strumenti fanno il loro lavoro, non si
dicono o si eludono (con procedimenti fin troppo
di maniera in tanta musica improvvisata), non
balbettano ne' mimano suoni che avrebbero potuto
essere. Le linee melodiche si incrociano e si
intersecano, talvolta tengono bordone, talvolta
scendono piste diverse, poi si rincontrano,
virano o si lanciano in improvvisi unisoni; si
riconoscono echi di ballate popolari come di
certe melodie di Messiaen, di Ligeti, chiamano
intorno a un fuoco comune o a passeggiate
solitarie da ubriaco. Roberto la chiama musica
colta ballabile. Non sfugge il fatto che non
commette l'errore di dichiararla, al contrario,
musica popolare colta, come cercano di fare
quelli che portano il canto popolare in museali
sale da concerto a pietire una dignità che non a
caso (grazie al cielo?) gli è stata sempre
negata; Roberto sa, orgogliosamente, di essere un
compositore, puo' finanche vantare un'estrazione
colta, ma riesce perfettamente nell'impresa di
dare suono, sangue, nervi e pelle, insomma ritmo,
